As some of you know, I’ve been sick with what I hope is a regular cold virus. No fever, lots of congestion, a sore throat, fatigue. And yes, I am resting and forcing liquids (honey and yuzu, Japanese ginger tea, called 生姜湯 shōgatō, and the Filipino equivalent, salabat). Hiro attributes my illness to the change in whether we’re experiencing, and he may be right. We went from very warm and dry (with wildfire smoke in the air) to cool and gray within the space of a few days at the end of August. And of course, I can’t rule out stress. I hopefully can, however, rule out COVID-19. My symptoms are enervating, yes, but they seem very mild, and I have four days of negative home tests, too.
I’ve just re-shared the first issue of Out of Japan, dating back to March of 2022. I hope it’s okay that I sent that out while I convalesce.
Please continue to rest and feel better soon ❤️
