This was awesome. Like you, friend, I have lived abroad for many years, and the worst culture shock I ever experienced was returning to the United States. Also, like you, I moved to the Pacific Northwest , in my case for college, and no surprise all my best friends were students who had moved from other states also. I agree with everything you say, and to this day I am terrified of going to Costco. Every time I shop there, I come home with 5 times bigger a thing than i need and a smashed full fridge.
