Also I was today years old when I learned that Japan does NOT co-own the bases on Okinawa.
Japan co-owns none of the US bases, including those near Tokyo, like Yokosuka (US Navy) and Yokota (US Air Force). But Okinawa remains in focus because nearly 3/4 of all US bases in Japan are there.
