The day that changed my life was when I was a miserable, 14 year-old trans boy laying in my room on a hot June day. I got the news that the Supreme Court had effectively legalized gay marriage at the federal level and I thought "maybe things will get better." I remember it very clearly.

I love this, and I can also remember that day in June of 2015. Seeing the White House lit with rainbow colors. So much joy.

I hope you are finding some joy now, too, Madison, even though I know our fellow Americans are making life harder and harder for trans people. Know that this queer writer sees you and honors you.

I definitely am finding joy now. I was forced back into the closet until I became an adult, but now I'm living my best trans life with my trans partner.

Thank you. After reading Stephen Fry, I realized that my years of anxiety were a washpot, where my accumulated mental grime could begin it's journey to clarity.
